Morgan Canady

In my artwork I explorer the wonders of the world around me.

I was born an army brat.  With my mother, brother and sister we followed my father around the world from Army Base to Army Base.  Never really belonging anywhere I didn’t try to make many friends so drawing was how I entertained myself.

I started drawing as a child.  My favorite subject in school was Art but life got in the way.  Now I’m retired so I have the time to follow my first passion.  Pastels were my favorite media in High School, though I also love drawing in charcoal, carbon or pen and ink. And lately I’ve been playing around with watercolor and gouache. I am largely self-taught, though I have taken workshops from several Pastel Artists.  Making art quiets my mind like transcendental meditation and lets me enter a world of my own.

Welcome To My Website

In my landscapes, I work to show the beauty of the desert land and sky that I live in.  In my still life, I choose objects that tell a story of what the person who owns them might be like.  I paint animals because I love them.  And in abstracts I can express in color and value the feelings that can’t be expressed in words.
